A predawn shooting in northwest Harris County has left one man dead and another recovering in the hospital, with investigators still searching for a motive and a suspect.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 7700 block of West Little York, near Hollister, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Monday after reports of a shooting in the area.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a white Chevrolet Malibu that had crashed into a nearby ditch. Inside or near the vehicle was a man believed to have been driving the car at the time of the shooting. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A second victim, identified only as a 22-year-old man, was also found with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a different hospital and underwent surgery. Authorities say his injuries are not considered life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.
Investigators believe the second victim may have fled the scene following the shooting and made his way to relatives living nearby. Those family members reportedly transported him to the hospital themselves, separate from the emergency response at the scene.
Sheriff’s officials say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Authorities have not released information about what led to the gunfire or whether the two victims were connected, targeted, or caught in an unrelated altercation.
No suspect description or arrest has been announced. Homicide detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood, reviewing nearby surveillance footage in hopes of piecing together what happened in the moments before and during the shooting.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased victim pending notification of family members.
This is a developing story, and further updates are expected as detectives continue working to determine a motive and identify those responsible for the shooting.
