A quiet residential street in northwest Harris County was shaken late at night after a 12-year-old girl made a desperate call to authorities — reporting that her mother was unresponsive with a wound to her abdomen.
When Precinct 4 Constable’s deputies responded to the home on Baldwin Springs Court in Tomball around 11 p.m., they found the young girl physically unharmed. But what awaited them inside told a far darker story.
Deputies discovered two people dead inside the residence — in separate rooms. The woman, identified as the girl’s mother, had suffered stab wounds. The man found dead in another room — the girl’s stepfather — appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper torso and head area. There were no signs of forced entry.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials are now investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide.
As investigators began piecing together what happened, they interviewed the young girl and spoke with neighbors. What emerged was a troubling pattern — authorities confirmed they learned of past family violence incidents connected to the household.
The 12-year-old, left without immediate family nearby, was released into the care of a family friend. Her relatives are based in Venezuela and were not present at the time of the incident.
The case has left the quiet Tomball neighborhood in shock, raising difficult questions about the signs that may have gone unnoticed — and what resources were available to a family struggling behind closed doors.
Authorities have not released the names of the deceased. The investigation remains ongoing.
