LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A joint investigation between the FBI and local detectives has led to the arrest of a southwest Ohio man accused of sexually abusing his own child.
The Licking County Sheriff’s Office says it was contacted by the FBI on Friday, June 12, with information that a man in the county had allegedly abused a biological child and produced child sexual abuse material.
Detectives moved immediately.
Suspect Identified and Located
Through a coordinated investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Kevin Daniel Kauff, 25, of Jamestown, Ohio.
Investigators located the child victim and identified the residence where the alleged abuse was taking place.
Based on the evidence gathered, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Kauff with one count of rape.
Multi-Agency Effort Led to Arrest
Kauff was not found in Licking County. Law enforcement tracked him to Greene County, where FBI agents and local authorities arrested him before transporting him back.
He is currently being held pending further court proceedings.
The Sheriff’s Office credited the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol for their roles in the arrest.
Investigation Ongoing
Detectives say the case is still in its early stages. Additional charges are possible as investigators continue reviewing evidence.
Because a child is involved, authorities have not released further identifying information about the victim.
Kauff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
