CLAREMONT, California — A 4-month-old baby girl is dead after being slammed onto the floor by a 17-year-old boy at an at-home daycare, and her heartbroken family says it never should have happened.

Troy May Elaine Cohn, from Pomona, was at the Lynoak Drive daycare when officers were called to the scene after reports of a medical emergency.

When police arrived, they found that an infant had been thrown to the floor by a juvenile inside the residence.

Troy was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Orange County — where she did not survive.

“My Child Had Bruises All Over Her Body”

Troy’s mother, Jasmyne Cohn, described injuries no parent should ever have to speak about.

“My child had bruises all over her body,” she said. “Her head was fractured.”

The 17-year-old, who has autism, has been charged with murder and arraigned on July 2. He is currently held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.

Family Says Daycare Owner Created Dangerous Environment

Troy’s parents say the teen was left alone and unsupervised with their daughter — despite the daycare operating with an age limit of 8 years and under.

They are now calling on local officials to shut the facility down immediately.

“I lost my daughter due to the negligence of this daycare,” Cohn said. “He should not have been in a daycare with children. Not just my child, any child.”

Troy’s father, Anthony Owens, echoed those demands, saying the owner created a dangerous environment for every child in that home.

The Claremont Police Department confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
