Wicked (2024) Movie-Musical Trailer

Wicked (2024) Movie-Musical Trailer

Normally when someone says wicked, it means evil, harmful or unpleasant, but right now it means that Cynthia Envrio and Ariana Grande teamed up to play Elphaba and Glinda respectively in a movie-musical adaptation of the acclaimed “Wicked” story.

A recent first look at the “Wicked” film adaptation was released, and the trailer caused a wide variety of opinions among fans. This is largely because the franchise fans, joined with Grande’s massive group of supporters, allows anyone who is anyone to have an opinion.

After Grande’s controversy regarding her alleged relationship with Ethan Slater during the filming of the movie, followed by the release of her song, “yes..and?” caused the pop icon to lose just over 350 thousand followers on Instagram. So naturally, many spectators are not in support of Grande’s pursuit.

There has even been criticism of Grande, because some believe her upbeat pop vocals will not be able to fill Glinda’s shoes—or heels. However, Sultana High School drama club president, Jamie Fuentes says, “[The trailer] looks like a really good adaptation. I am also a fan of their casting for it.”

Award winning Broadway superstar, Cynthia Erivo will be featured as Elphaba. She initially gained recognition for her role in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple ”, and then stepped into film, playing roles in films such as “Widows” and “Bad Times at the El Royal”. Erivo also starred as Harriet Tubman in the 2019 biopic, “Harriet”, where she wrote and performed the song “Stand Up”.

Sophomore, Amber Golden, explains how she is excited to see the movie because it is, “something different from what I usually watch, and [the movie] tells a story in a different perspective.”

There it is folks, go see “Wicked” (2024), the movie adaptation, in theaters November 2024.
