They Pulled Up, Opened Fire, Then Vanished — Three Men Shot in Houston Neighborhood as Gunmen Escape in SUV

A quiet Houston street turned into a crime scene Monday night when a group of men were ambushed by armed suspects who pulled up in a vehicle, opened fire without warning, and fled before police could respond.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. on June 9, 2026, in the 800 block of Fair Street. Houston Police responded to find three victims — none of whom were expected to survive at the time, though all three are now listed in stable condition.

According to investigators, a black Ford Bronco carrying multiple suspects approached a group of people standing in the area. Without provocation, the occupants opened fire on the crowd.

A 42-year-old man was struck in the leg and hand. A 22-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the neck. A third victim, believed to be in his 20s, was not only shot at — he was physically dragged from the group, assaulted, and pistol-whipped before the suspects retreated to their vehicle and drove away.

The level of violence — gunfire combined with a hands-on beating — suggests the attack may not have been random. However, investigators have not confirmed a motive, and no arrests have been made as of this report.

One of the wounded men was rushed to a nearby fire station in a private vehicle, while the other two were transported by ambulance. All three victims are expected to survive their injuries.

Authorities believe as many as four male suspects were involved in the attack. The black Ford Bronco was last seen fleeing the scene, and its current whereabouts are unknown.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of the suspects is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
