Humble, Texas – A 19-year-old woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after a pickup truck crashed through the front wall of a bakery in Humble, Texas, striking multiple employees inside the store.
The crash happened at approximately 3:11 p.m. on June 30 at Nothing Bundt Cakes, located at 19250 W. Lake Houston Parkway in northeast Harris County.
Investigators said the driver, identified as Sedrick Derousseau, was navigating a Ram 1500 through the shopping center parking lot when he attempted to pull into a parking space. His foot slipped off the brake pedal and onto the accelerator, causing the truck to surge forward and ram through the south wall and entrance of the bakery.
Once inside, the vehicle struck customer Kimberly Bowman before continuing deeper into the store, where it collided with the sales counter and hit 19-year-old Zion Branch. A third person, Latoya Perkins, was struck by debris from the impact.
Branch was pronounced dead at the scene. Bowman and Perkins were also injured — authorities have not released the extent of their injuries.
Derousseau remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication, according to investigators. As of this report, no criminal charges have been announced.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the incident. The case remains active and ongoing.
