A Pennsylvania woman’s ordinary afternoon of running errands turned into a devastating nightmare when she returned home to find her husband covered in blood and stab wounds — and a trail leading directly to where her own son spent most of his time.
Alhaji Buhari, 69, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds to his face, neck, and chest inside the family’s home on Arnoni Drive in Allegheny County. Emergency responders arrived at approximately 4 p.m. following a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man at the residence. Despite their efforts, Alhaji Buhari was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife, who had just returned from errands, discovered him in a blood-soaked condition. Investigators noted that two knives were found on a nearby counter, and visible blood trails stretched toward the basement — an area where the couple’s son, 42-year-old Kabir Buhari, reportedly spent a significant amount of his time. He was not present when authorities arrived.
The Allegheny County Police Department identified Kabir Buhari as the primary suspect following witness interviews and a thorough examination of evidence collected at the scene. Investigators determined he had fled the area after the alleged attack.
Detectives later learned the suspect was believed to be at a hotel in Bethesda, Maryland — more than 200 miles southeast of the crime scene. Working alongside the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Montgomery County Police Department tracked down and arrested Kabir Buhari at the location.
The suspect’s mother told officers that her son had long struggled with mental illness and had previously been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility.
Kabir Buhari now faces a charge of criminal homicide in connection with his father’s death, as announced by the Allegheny County Police Department. He is currently being held in Maryland pending extradition back to Pennsylvania. Court records indicate no hearing date has been scheduled, as the extradition process remains ongoing.
