A desperate search is underway in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, for a 40-year-old woman who vanished without a trace — and investigators say she may be in serious danger.
Tamara “Nicki” Nicole Evans was officially reported missing by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, after she was last seen leaving a residence on Melvin Hill Road at approximately noon on Friday. The home is located in the Campobello area, near Exit 5 on Interstate 26, close to the South Carolina and North Carolina state line.
Since that moment, Evans has not been seen or heard from — and the clock is ticking.
Authorities have expressed urgent concern for Evans’ wellbeing. According to the sheriff’s office, Evans suffers from mental illness and reportedly made statements suggesting she may harm herself before she disappeared. Those details have deepened fears among investigators and loved ones alike.
As of now, officials have not confirmed whether Evans was alone when she left the Melvin Hill Road home. The sheriff’s office has also not publicly indicated whether foul play is suspected in connection with her disappearance, leaving many critical questions still unanswered.
The Campobello area, where Evans was last seen, sits in the northern corner of Spartanburg County — a largely rural stretch of land near the state border that presents significant challenges for search teams covering the terrain.
Authorities are urging the public to remain alert. Anyone who spots Evans is being asked to call 911 immediately without delay.
