Pasadena jewelry heist takes wild turn — getaway car slammed by two 18-wheelers on Houston freeway

PASADENA, Texas — A jewelry store robbery in Pasadena ended in a dramatic highway chase Thursday morning, after the suspects’ getaway car was struck not once, but twice by separate 18-wheelers, leaving one suspect hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to police, the incident began around 9:30 a.m. when two armed men allegedly walked into a pawn shop on Pasadena Boulevard and made off with jewelry. The pair then sped away in a silver sedan.

Officers quickly located the vehicle heading north on the East Loop. As police closed in, the driver reportedly blew through a red light while exiting onto a nearby street — and that’s when the chaos began. A semi-truck slammed into the fleeing car, sending it spinning off the road and down an embankment.

But the danger wasn’t over. The car bounced back onto the highway, where a second 18-wheeler crashed into it moments later.

Emergency crews had to pull one of the suspects from the wreckage. He was rushed to the hospital with injuries described as serious. His current condition has not been released.

The second suspect didn’t stick around to wait for police — he fled the crash site on foot. But his freedom was short-lived. Authorities tracked him down and took him into custody roughly an hour later.

So far, neither suspect has been publicly identified, and investigators have not said whether either will face additional charges connected to the crash itself.

The chain of events — a botched robbery, a high-speed pursuit, and not one but two collisions with big rigs — has left residents in the area stunned, with many calling it one of the most dramatic police chases the city has seen in recent memory.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
