Parents came home to find their 9 and 15-year-old shot dead inside their own house — and police are still hunting for a suspect

WOODLAWN, Maryland — Two children are dead and a community is shaken after a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old were found shot inside their home in Baltimore County Tuesday night.

Officers responded around 7:20 p.m. to the 6100 block of Talles Road in Woodlawn. When they arrived, both children — believed to be siblings — were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

It was their parents who made the call to 911 after arriving home and discovering what had happened.

“This Is Horrific” — Police Chief Speaks Out

Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough did not hold back when addressing the media.

“I’ve seen a lot of things in my career, but this is horrific, it’s tragic, and something that doesn’t happen in this community,” he said.

McCullough confirmed police are investigating the deaths as a homicide. A suspect has not yet been identified, but he pledged to commit every available resource to solving the case.

Officers have increased patrols in the area even though the shooting appears to be isolated.

A Neighborhood In Disbelief

Woodlawn residents say this kind of violence is unheard of on their street.

“This is not usual for this neighborhood,” said one resident who heard the sirens from inside her home. “This is normally an extremely quiet street.”

McCullough echoed that sentiment, saying the worst calls they typically receive in the area are for speeding and noise complaints.

“Never have I seen something like this before in this neighborhood,” he said.
