He Shot a Man, Then Led Police Through 3 Counties — Here's How It Ended

MONTPELIER, Indiana — A routine Friday evening turned violent when a man was shot multiple times in a residential neighborhood, sparking a dramatic multi-county police chase that stretched across three Indiana counties.

Around 5 p.m. on June 12, a Montpelier Police officer responded to the 300 block of East Brice Street after reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The officer, along with bystanders and first responders, immediately began life-saving measures. The victim was later airlifted to a hospital in Fort Wayne for advanced medical treatment.

Suspect Fled in a White Dodge Charger

The suspect was seen leaving the scene in a white Dodge Charger with a black hood shortly after the shooting.

As officers moved to assist, a Hartford City Police Department officer spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver refused to pull over.

Chase Stretched Across Three Counties

What followed was a high-speed pursuit through Blackford, Grant, and Delaware Counties before the chase finally ended on Wheeling Pike in Delaware County.

The 28-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked at the Blackford County Security Center.

Charges Filed Against the Suspect

The man now faces six serious charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated, and possession of a legend drug.

The Blackford County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.

The condition of the 46-year-old victim has not been publicly confirmed at this time.
