Florida Parents Held Without Bond After Pulling Knife and Gun on 15-Year-Old Boy Who Dropped Their Daughter Home

Deltona, Florida — A routine drop-off after a night out turned into a terrifying ordeal for a 15-year-old boy when the parents of the girl he drove home allegedly ambushed him in the driveway, brandishing a knife, a metal pipe and a firearm before blocking his vehicle and threatening his life.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at a residence on N. Normandy Boulevard in Deltona. Rosa Lamourt Tiru, 45, and Lance Mulonas, 61, now face serious criminal charges after authorities say they attacked the teenage boy, apparently believing he was an adult who had kept their daughter out all night without permission.

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, the moment the teen pulled into the driveway to drop the girl off, a white van blocked his vehicle from behind. Mulonas allegedly stepped out carrying a metal pipe and began striking the roof of the teen’s car. He then allegedly brought a knife close to the boy’s throat. Meanwhile, Tiru was reportedly waving a firearm during the confrontation.

The couple had actually called police themselves, claiming their daughter had been dropped off by an adult. What they failed to disclose to dispatchers was that they had already assaulted the teen and damaged his vehicle. They also did not know the boy was the same age as their daughter.

The teen managed to drive away once Mulonas moved the van. He met his mother at a nearby gas station, where she immediately called 911.

“He’s 15. He’s a minor and they pulled a gun and a knife on him and damaged a vehicle,” the boy’s mother told authorities. She estimated vehicle damage at approximately $4,000.

The teen told deputies he genuinely feared for his life during the attack.

Tiru and Mulonas were arrested and booked into Volusia County Jail. Both are being held without bond. Tiru faces charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault. Mulonas faces additional charges of false imprisonment and criminal mischief. Their next court date is scheduled for July 1.
