A Florida man who plowed his car into a group of six children walking on a sidewalk — and then sped away without stopping — has been sentenced to 73 years in prison for the deadly crash that claimed three young lives.
Sean Greer, now 31, pleaded no contest to three counts each of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death. The victims were 6-year-old Andrea Fleming, 5-year-old Paris Jones, and 9-year-old Laziyah “Minnie” Stukes, who died months later from her injuries.
The tragedy unfolded on December 27, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Powerline Road in Wilton Manors, just north of Fort Lauderdale. The six children were on the sidewalk when Greer, attempting to pass a stopped Broward County Transit bus, veered off the road and struck them. He did not stop — instead, he accelerated and fled.
Investigators traced the vehicle through crash debris left at the scene. When deputies arrived at Greer’s home, they found his Honda Accord with damage consistent with the crash — including a missing front bumper recovered at the scene. A neighbor told police that Greer had returned home that afternoon saying he had “messed up” and that his bumper had come off in a crash. He allegedly asked her not to tell police whose car it was.
When interviewed by Broward County Sheriff’s deputies the next day, Greer claimed he had been driving home from Walmart when he swerved around the bus and struck a pole. He admitted he left because he was on probation and feared getting into trouble. Authorities also confirmed his driver’s license had been suspended since 2016.
At sentencing this week, victims’ family members confronted Greer directly. Laziyah’s mother, Devera Stukes, reminded the court that the children were not in the street — they were on the sidewalk. The father of one of the surviving children walked out of the courtroom, saying Greer had nearly killed his son.
“No one cares about your upbringing. Our children were not on Powerline Road — they were on the sidewalk.” — Devera Stukes, mother of Laziyah Stukes
Greer will serve 73 years — effectively a life sentence — for a crash that lasted seconds but shattered multiple families in an instant.
