TIMMONSVILLE, South Carolina — A 75-year-old woman who depends on an oxygen tank to breathe allegedly found the strength to shoot her husband twice during a domestic dispute, according to local authorities.
Josephine Scott was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon while committing a violent crime after deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at her home on Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found Scott’s husband with gunshot wounds to both legs. He was transported to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Authorities did not release his name to the public.
What Police Say Happened
Investigators say Scott and her husband got into an argument inside their home — and the confrontation turned violent.
Despite her reliance on an oxygen tank, Scott allegedly picked up a firearm and shot her husband twice, according to police.
Authorities did not disclose what the argument was about or what specifically triggered the shooting.
Charges and Bond
Scott was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Sunday.
At her first court appearance on Monday, a judge set her bond at $50,000 for the attempted murder charge and $5,000 for the weapons charge.
She posted the full $55,000 and walked out of jail.
Scott is due back in court on October 6.
