Blood found throughout apartment where missing Houston woman's body was discovered, autopsy reveals

Newly released autopsy findings are raising fresh questions about the death of 34-year-old Brittany Gamble, a Houston woman whose body was found inside a man’s apartment last November.

Gamble’s family says she was hospitalized on November 19 for an altered mental state. She left the hospital that day with a man she had recently met. Within days, she was dead inside his home.

The autopsy report states Gamble likely experienced diabetic ketoacidosis along with other serious health issues. But investigators also documented blood on the man’s hands and clothing, blood in several locations throughout the apartment, the smell of cleaning products, and signs that Gamble’s body had already begun decomposing by the time authorities responded. No fatal injuries were identified, and the medical examiner listed both the cause and manner of death as undetermined.

Gamble’s sister, Rebekah Falke, said the report was difficult to read. “Lots of things that are in the autopsy that you don’t want to read about a loved one,” she said.

According to investigators, social media footage shows Gamble alive on November 19 and 20. A later video from November 25 appears to show her motionless on an air mattress. The man did not contact emergency services until November 27, telling police she had not moved in three days. Falke says a clump of her sister’s hair was found near a Bible inside the apartment.

Houston Police initially closed the investigation without making an arrest, but reopened it after the family raised concerns. The case remains active.

Court records show the man was charged with murder in an unrelated 2013 case after a woman’s body was found in a ditch; those charges were later dismissed, though he was convicted on a related offense and served time in prison.

No charges have been filed in Gamble’s death. Falke says she just wants answers. “She by no means deserved to not have the dignity that she deserved in her last bit of life,” she said.
