A two-vehicle crash on Texas Highway 90 south of Anderson left one person seriously injured Thursday afternoon, prompting an emergency airlift to a Houston hospital, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision happened when a 2007 Dodge 3500 pickup, towing a homemade trailer, was traveling west on Highway 90 and attempted to turn onto County Road 180. As the truck turned, it was struck by an eastbound 2010 Nissan Pathfinder, troopers said.
Both occupants of the Nissan were injured in the crash. One suffered what DPS described as minor injuries. The second occupant’s injuries were serious enough to require an air ambulance, and they were flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment. As of the latest update, their condition has not been released by hospital officials.
DPS troopers responded to the scene around 2 p.m. Thursday. The crash forced a partial shutdown of the highway while crews worked to clear the area and investigate. The roadway reopened at approximately 5:20 p.m., after being closed for more than three hours.
No further details have been released about potential charges or contributing factors in the crash. DPS has not said whether weather, speed, or visibility played a role in the collision.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Authorities have not indicated when more information, including the names of those involved or updates on the injured victim’s condition, will be made public.
Residents driving through the Anderson area on Highway 90 are advised to stay alert, as similar intersections with county roads have seen previous incidents.
