A quiet residential stretch in South Jersey turned into a crime scene after a teenager was shot inside his own vehicle and left in critical condition, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident unfolded on Locust Court in Winslow Township on the night of June 17, when officers responded to reports of gunfire just before 10 p.m. Arriving officers discovered a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a car that had crashed into a nearby parked vehicle after the shooting, officials said. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition.
Investigators later determined that the shooting was not random. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, two teenage boys allegedly opened fire on the victim before making off with his watch and several other personal belongings, turning the attack into both a shooting and a robbery.
Photos from the scene showed multiple patrol vehicles lining the street as police tape cordoned off the area around the damaged sedan, while detectives worked to piece together what had happened.
The break in the case came weeks later. The U.S. Marshals Service tracked down and arrested one of the teen suspects in Winslow Township on July 17, followed by the second suspect’s arrest in Pine Hill just three days later, authorities confirmed.
Both boys now face a serious list of charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and tampering with evidence, among other related counts, officials said.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Winslow Township Police Department say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is being urged to come forward to assist authorities.
