A 23-year-old Wisconsin man is facing multiple felony charges after a drunk driving crash that killed a 47-year-old man early last week, according to police.
Alan Ontiveros was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and several other felonies following the head-on collision that claimed the life of Faisal Hussain. The crash occurred around 1 a.m. on June 21, when Ontiveros’ Buick LaCrosse collided with Hussain’s Honda Civic, also striking several parked vehicles nearby.
Police said Ontiveros had a woman in the car with him at the time. After the crash, the pair allegedly tried to flee the scene, but were stopped by witnesses who had gathered nearby. According to the criminal complaint, Ontiveros raised his hands in a boxer’s stance, appearing ready to fight one of the witnesses attempting to keep him there.
He then turned to the woman in his vehicle and admitted what had happened, telling her he would not see her again for a long time, according to the complaint.
Paramedics performed lifesaving measures on Hussain at the scene, but he later died from his injuries.
Officers said Ontiveros tried to run from the area but was identified by witnesses as the driver. He was taken into custody nearby. Police reported visible signs of intoxication, and Ontiveros admitted to consuming several alcoholic beverages at a bar shortly before the crash, along with marijuana use beforehand. He attributed his impairment in part to drinking on an empty stomach, according to the complaint.
Tests showed his blood alcohol concentration measured well above the legal limit several hours after the crash. An open container was also found inside his vehicle. Records further revealed Ontiveros did not hold a valid driver’s license.
He now faces several serious charges, including reckless homicide and hit-and-run involving death. Ontiveros remains held on a $150,000 bond, with his next court date set for early July.
