BAYTOWN, Texas — A 31-year-old Baytown man lost his life in the early morning hours of Tuesday after a truck driver failed to yield at a crossover intersection on Texas 73.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the victim as Eddie Alvarez of Baytown.
The crash happened around 4:35 a.m.
According to DPS, the driver of an Autocar Truck Tractor failed to yield the right-of-way at a crossover intersection on Texas 73.
By pulling into the roadway without yielding, the truck moved directly into the path of the Honda being driven by Alvarez.
Alvarez struck the truck from behind. The impact proved fatal.
Victim Pronounced Dead at the Scene
Jefferson County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Justin Chesson pronounced Alvarez dead at the scene.
DPS held back on releasing his name until his next of kin had been notified.
Truck Driver Survives With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
The Autocar driver, a 26-year-old man from San Juan, was transported to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas for treatment.
His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
