Houston Woman Shot Dead by Man She Was Dating — Neighbors in Same Housing Complex, Police Say

A woman is dead and police are searching for her alleged killer after a shooting Friday evening at a Houston housing complex, authorities said.

The Houston Police Department said officers were called to New Hope Housing, in the 6000 block of Dale Carnegie Lane near Sharpstown, around 8 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the woman and the suspected shooter lived in the same housing complex and were in a dating relationship at the time of the shooting. Police have not said what led up to the gunfire.

The suspect fled before officers arrived, according to HPD. He has not been identified, and his whereabouts remain unknown as of Friday night.

Homicide detectives are now working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Investigators said they are reviewing surveillance footage from the area in hopes of identifying and locating the suspect.

No further details about the victim, including her name or age, have been released by police. Authorities have also not disclosed the suspect’s identity, pending further investigation.

This is at least the latest in a string of domestic violence-related shootings reported in the Houston area this year, underscoring ongoing concerns about violence between intimate partners in residential communities.

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect’s location to come forward. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with detectives continuing to canvass the complex and surrounding area for additional witnesses or evidence.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
