A Houston man accused of killing a woman he was reportedly dating is now facing murder charges after investigators alleged that he not only struck the victim with his vehicle but also attempted to run over witnesses who were present during the incident.
Authorities identified the suspect as 26-year-old Rudolfo Pinon III. He has been charged in connection with the death of Galilea Adan, a young woman whose family says had her whole life ahead of her.
According to investigators, the incident occurred during the early morning hours of June 14 near Bellerive Drive in Houston. Police responded to reports of a fatal collision at approximately 1:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Adan deceased in a lane of traffic.
Investigators said the events leading up to the tragedy began after a group of people, including Adan and Pinon, left a local dance hall. During the drive, an altercation reportedly broke out among those inside the vehicle.
Police allege that the driver pulled over and several occupants exited the vehicle. Authorities say Pinon then got back behind the wheel and struck Adan before fleeing the scene. Court records further allege that he attempted to drive toward other individuals who witnessed the incident, placing additional lives at risk.
The allegations have intensified the case and raised questions about what exactly unfolded during the confrontation. Investigators continue to review evidence and witness statements as the criminal case moves forward.
Family members described Adan as a vibrant young woman who brought joy to those around her. Relatives expressed heartbreak over her death and said they are seeking justice.
“She didn’t deserve to die,” a family member said while remembering the victim.
Pinon remains accused in the case, and the allegations against him have not yet been proven in court. Authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible motive as the investigation continues.
