A construction worker lost his life Tuesday afternoon after suffering a sudden medical emergency at a job site in Valencia, according to officials.
The incident occurred at around 2:24 p.m. near the intersection of Marshland Place and Blue Jay Way, an area of Valencia currently undergoing active construction. Emergency crews were dispatched after receiving a call about a man who had become unresponsive at the site.
According to Justin Yang, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the worker had reportedly begun feeling unwell during his shift and sat down to rest. Moments later, his coworkers discovered that he was no longer responding and immediately called 911 for help.
When fire department units arrived at the scene, they found the man without a pulse and not breathing. First responders immediately began performing CPR in an effort to revive him, but despite their attempts, he could not be saved.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the man who died, stating that his information is being withheld until his family and next of kin have been properly notified.
