HOUSTON, Texas — Hotel staff at a Residence Inn by Marriott on Kirby Drive grew concerned when a guest in one of the rooms had not been heard from in days.
When they used a pass key to check on her, they found a scene no one was prepared for.
A 40-year-old mother and her two children — a 6-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy — were found dead inside the room. Police say the mother shot both children before turning the gun on herself.
What Investigators Know So Far
Houston police were called to the hotel, located near Main Street in the city’s Braeswood area, shortly before noon on Friday.
Houston Fire Captain Reyes confirmed units responded to the scene. A police lieutenant said the woman fatally shot her daughter and son before taking her own life.
Hotel staff told investigators the guest had checked in on Wednesday. No one had heard from her since.
Key Details Still Unknown
As of now, none of the three victims have been publicly identified.
Investigators have also not confirmed exactly when the shooting took place — whether it happened Friday or sometime during the days the room went unchecked.
The case remains under active investigation.
