Orange County, FL- A married couple from New York is facing attempted murder charges after authorities say they drove to a Florida home and opened fire on it during what they later described as an anniversary trip — with two children inside the house at the time of the shooting.
Angelo Portelli, 41, a federal agent with U.S. Customs and Border Protection at JFK Airport, and his wife, Natalie Lopez-Portelli, 54, have both been charged with attempted second-degree murder, battery, criminal mischief, and shooting into an occupied dwelling, according to Orange County court records.
Investigators say the attack was rooted in jealousy. Portelli had allegedly been flying from New York to Florida roughly four times to meet a woman he connected with on TikTok — all while telling her he was going through a divorce. When the victim learned he was still married — reportedly from Lopez-Portelli herself — she cut off all contact in October 2025.
Two months later, on December 6, 2025, the couple reportedly parked in front of the woman’s home just before 8 p.m. Surveillance footage shows them approaching the house wearing a hoodie and a blonde wig as disguises. When the victim’s fiancé — a law enforcement officer — stepped outside to check on his patrol vehicle, Portelli allegedly placed him in a chokehold as Lopez-Portelli joined in and struck him.
The confrontation turned into a gunfight. Bullets tore through the front door and struck the interior walls — while the victim and her two daughters were still inside the home.
The couple fled the scene in a red Kia Sorento. When Portelli returned to duty on December 18, 2025, Florida investigators were waiting at his office. According to the affidavit, he immediately placed his service weapon on the table and broke down in tears — confessing he had been in Florida during the incident.
Lopez-Portelli’s father later showed investigators text messages from her urging him not to speak to anyone, warning she could “go to jail.” Both suspects are currently in custody at the Orange County Department of Corrections. Portelli is scheduled for a hearing on July 9.
