An Idaho mother who publicly blamed routine childhood vaccines for the simultaneous deaths of her 18-month-old twins has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, more than a year after the toddlers were found dead in their shared bed.
Andrea Shaw, 23, was taken into custody in Ada County following a grand jury indictment connected to the deaths of her twin sons, Tyson and Dallas, who were found unresponsive on the morning of May 1, 2025, at a trailer park in Payette, Idaho.
What Happened That Morning
Officers responded to the home at 11:30 a.m. after a call reporting a possibly deceased child. Upon arrival, both toddlers were found dead in the same bed. Payette Police Chief Gary Marshall described the scene as “extremely unusual,” noting it was highly uncommon for two infants to be found dead at the same time.
The Vaccine Claim
Days before their deaths, the twins had received routine vaccinations at a pediatrician visit on April 23, 2025. According to family statements, both boys became seriously ill the following day and were taken to the emergency room, where a physician suggested they may be reacting to the vaccines. They were sent home and treated with Tylenol.
By April 30, the twins appeared to be recovering, but were still described as lethargic. The family visited a park that evening. The next morning, Shaw reportedly found both boys had died in their sleep.
Shaw and her husband later appeared on a podcast by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization, where she publicly attributed the deaths to vaccines.
Charges and What Comes Next
Shaw’s defense attorney maintains the deaths were vaccine-related and says prosecutors lack evidence of physical harm. However, police treated the case as a homicide from the beginning.
The grand jury indictment remains sealed. Shaw is currently held at Ada County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Payette County. Her arraignment is set for July 14.
