He Said He Just "Wanted to Go Home" — Now He's Charged With Murder After a 120 MPH Chase Killed His Own Passenger

HOUSTON, Texas — A 22-year-old man is facing a murder charge after a terrifying high-speed chase on Highway 6 ended with one of his own passengers dead.

Court records identify the suspect as Stephen Molina. According to records, it all started when Houston Police Department officers attempted a routine traffic stop — and Molina refused to pull over.

What followed was a chase that hit 120 miles per hour.

He Turned Off His Headlights Before Crashing

As officers pursued him, Molina allegedly turned off his car’s headlights — then lost control and slammed into a curb near the Westpark Toll Road overpass.

Two passengers were in the car with him at the time.

As they tried to get out of the crashed vehicle, a responding HPD officer approaching from the opposite direction struck the car. One of the passengers was killed on impact.

“I Just Wanted to Go Home”

When questioned, Molina told officers he fled because he “wanted to go home.”

He also admitted to drinking alcohol and using cocaine before getting behind the wheel, according to court records.

Those admissions, combined with the deadly outcome of the chase, led prosecutors to charge him with murder.

Denied Bond, Court Date Set

Molina was taken into custody and appeared in probable cause court, where he was denied bond.

His next court date is expected on Monday, June 6.

The case has raised serious questions about the consequences of fleeing police — and the innocent lives put at risk when someone chooses to run.
