Man tied disabled friend to wheelchair and left him in 105-degree heat to die, mom filmed the whole thing: police

PHOENIX, Arizona — An Arizona man allegedly tied his disabled friend to a wheelchair with plastic bags and left him to die near a canal in 105-degree heat — then told the family he was “fine.”

Hector Corrales, 41, faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges in the June 25 death of Aaron Goodyke, 33.

Goodyke was a diabetic amputee who had his left leg removed below the knee in April 2026. He had been staying at Corrales’ mother’s home after being evicted from a hotel.

His health was declining. He refused to eat or drink all week.

How it happened

Corrales and an unidentified friend tried to take Goodyke to the hospital. He changed his mind and became combative.

That’s when things turned deadly.

The two men placed Goodyke in his wheelchair and tied his hands with plastic bags, court documents allege. At one point the wheelchair tipped back and Goodyke appeared to hit his head against the house.

The unidentified man then wheeled him to a nearby canal and left him there — restrained, alone, in 105-degree heat — with his pants around his ankles.

He returned and told Corrales’ mother Goodyke was “fine.”

She had filmed the entire incident on her phone. She later handed the footage to police.

Found too late

Two witnesses spotted Goodyke slumped near the canal that evening. He was alive — mumbling and moving his hands.

They kept walking.

Less than an hour later they passed again. He was still there.

Their daughter drove to the scene shortly after.

Goodyke was dead.

Corrales was booked into Maricopa County Jail. The second suspect remains at large and unidentified.
