Moving Day Turned Deadly: Woman Run Over and Killed During Argument — Suspect Was Someone She Trusted

What should have been an ordinary moving day ended in tragedy in west Houston on Thursday afternoon, when a woman was deliberately run over and killed by a man she had hired to help her move — someone who was supposed to be there to help her, not harm her.

Houston Police Department officers responded to a shocking and disturbing scene along 2400 South Gessner Road at approximately 3:30 p.m. after receiving an emergency call. When officers arrived, they found a woman dead at the scene — the victim of what investigators quickly determined was no accident.

According to HPD Lieutenant Larry Crowson, the woman had hired a three-person moving crew to help her relocate from an apartment in the area. At some point during the move, tensions escalated between the woman and one of the male members of the crew. The argument grew heated, and the two got into the box truck together.

What happened next left witnesses horrified.

The woman fell out of the vehicle — and rather than stopping, the man behind the wheel allegedly drove the truck directly over her. Investigators say the evidence strongly suggests the act was intentional, not accidental. The woman died at the scene from her injuries.

A third member of the moving crew, who was not involved in the altercation, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with police. Their account, along with witness statements gathered from the area, helped officers piece together the events that led to the deadly confrontation.

A suspect is currently in custody, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

This tragedy serves as a deeply unsettling reminder that domestic disputes and personal conflicts can escalate to deadly levels in a matter of seconds — even in the most unexpected settings.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information or footage related to this incident to come forward and contact the Houston Police Department immediately.
