Katy, Texas — A 45-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in the early morning hours of Monday following a fatal collision on North Mason Road in the Katy area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The crash has left the local community in shock as investigators work to piece together the final moments leading up to the deadly impact.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:28 a.m., responding to a reported crash in the 2700 block of North Mason Road, located a short distance south of Morton Road. Upon arrival, first responders found the victim unresponsive at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Jason Wozniak, a 45-year-old man who was operating a 2009 Suzuki GSX750 motorcycle at the time of the crash. According to investigators, Wozniak was traveling southbound on North Mason Road when his motorcycle collided with the rear of a 2022 Honda Pilot, which was also heading south in the same direction.
The sheriff’s office report states that Wozniak failed to control his speed, struck the rear of the Honda Pilot with significant force, and was separated from his motorcycle upon impact. Despite the efforts of first responders, Wozniak was pronounced dead at the scene. No details regarding a passenger on the motorcycle were mentioned in the investigation.
The driver of the Honda Pilot remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated fully with investigators. Authorities reported that the driver showed no signs of intoxication at the time of the incident.
