A young Indiana boy showed unimaginable courage after a devastating head-on crash killed both of his parents — and his bravery may have saved his little brother’s life.
The tragedy struck Friday in Dearborn County, Indiana, when a driver crossed the center line and slammed into the Walters family vehicle head-on. Jordan Walters, 30s, and his wife Sierra Walters were both killed on impact.
Inside the wreckage were their two young sons — Knight, 6, and Kyro, 4.
A Little Boy’s Desperate Mission
With no adults left to help, Knight unbuckled himself from his booster seat. He tried to wake his mother and father. When they didn’t respond, he did something no child should ever have to do — he crawled out of the damaged vehicle, climbed up an embankment, and flagged down a passing woman.
“His little brother needs help and his mommy and daddy won’t wake up,” Knight told her.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene. Both boys survived.
A Family Torn Apart
Jordan and Sierra Walters were described by those who knew them as model parents. Jordan coached youth baseball — the same league where his sons played. Sierra ran a daycare and was known in the community for her love of children.
The family had just returned from their very first vacation — a trip to Myrtle Beach. They had been talking about having more children and building new memories together.
“They’re the prototype for what a quality parent is,” a community member said.
Brothers Find a New Home
Knight and Kyro are now in the care of Jordan’s twin brother, Jerad Walters, and his wife Jessica.
“I lost my best friend. The one person that knew everything about me in this world,” Jerad said.
Jessica added that the boys will always be reminded of how deeply their parents loved them.
No charges have been filed in connection with the crash. Toxicology results remain pending.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support the boys and their new guardians.
