The Sultana High School girls basketball season is coming to an end with only three games left to play, their last game is senior night on Wednesday, February 5. Seniors will be ending their last season with a home game at Sultana High School.
Senior night for girl’s basketball is a special event held during the final home game of the season to honor the senior players on a memorial night. It’s a night to celebrate their dedication and their commitment and to show how hard these athletes have worked. This now will be the very last home game of their high school season. Come out and support your seniors!!
Breezy Demase, a Senior that has been on the girl’s varsity team for three years, said she feels a little sad because her career is ending but excited for new adventures.
“I learned to work as a team and to keep the team accountable on and off the court,” said another senior Layla Golden on the varsity team.
According to both seniors, their favorite moments were the bus rides to away games, they enjoyed talking with their team.
Senior Golden started her journey for basketball in seventh grade, then ended up having to move and started her new basketball journey at Sultana in tenth grade, while Demase started her journey in freshman year at Sultana.
Their basketball journey will end differently, Golden excitedly plans to play in college stating “I love playing basketball I really plan to play in college!”, while Demase doesn’t plan on playing in college at all.
Both seniors had a person who inspired them, Demase’s Grandma had inspired her to be the person she is now, Golden says “My sisters pushed me to work hard and so has my mom”
Overall, the girls are excited for a new beginning but sad that they have to let go of all the memories over the past four years.
