Head Coach Dwayne Wibeto, said, “They work hard, they show up, and put in the effort. They want to get better. They know that to reach their potential they need to work hard.” Our Sultan’s work ethic has been visible in the past games and the girls have been doing an amazing job as a team and individually.
The girls seem to have a positive and safe environment between themselves, keeping close friendships. “I think we have great unity, I think we work well together as a team. We might have some tweaks here and there but we definitely know how to get past it and grow to be better,” says Sultana senior, Mishelle Dominguez.
All teams have problems here and there but as they surpass them together. It displays the true teal colors of a Lady Sultans and how in the end we can unite as one.
The Lady Sultans have a promising season ahead of them as it commences, “If they keep working hard and keep working together then they can do amazing things, they have a lot of potential and a lot of talent. They work together and they work hard, they’ll be good.” Coach Wibeto stated.
Hailey Carreon, right-side hitter & outside hitter, stated “I think we are gonna be a pretty strong team this year, we all have connections with each other and we all bond with each other. We understand each other and practices go well so I think we will be pretty solid this season.”
In addition, Coach Wibeto is welcoming new uniforms. Coach Wibeto stated, “I decided to get new ones [uniforms]. We got new ones last year, and we got them again this year, and we will get them again one more year. It was the seniors that chose the styles.” He emphasized that he would like to get to a point where the student-athletes can choose from a variety of styles to represent them while they play.
Hailey Carreon, Sultana senior, said, “I really like them, they are short sleeves so they are more breathable. They’re really nice, I like the fade and it’s just something different, and something we see college players wear. It makes us feel nice and perform better.” The new uniforms look professional and bring a new and exciting era of volleyball to Sultana, encouraging our Sultans to reach their full potential on the court.
As the Lady Sultans gear up for this new and exciting season, we should all wish them luck and make sure to show our support to them.
