On February 20, 2023, President Joe Biden traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This trip was classified and only known by White House officials and other agencies within the United States government. Biden’s visit held great significance considering that it took place just before the first anniversary of Russia’s initial attack on Ukraine.

It is said that Biden was in the Ukrainian Capital for over five hours discussing Ukraine’s next steps and commemorating the fallen soldiers of Ukraine. Overall, Biden’s visit to Ukraine lasted just under a day, all via AP News.

The White House posted a statement from President Joe Biden where he stated “I will announce another delivery of critical equipment, including artillery ammunition, anti-armor systems, and air surveillance radars to help protect the Ukrainian people from aerial bombardments.”

According to a timeline created by CNN, The last time Ukraine was attacked by Russia took place on October 10, 2022, when Russia launched missiles at Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure. Though there has not been much activity this year surrounding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine there has been no resolution between the two countries.

Overall, this invasion has been disturbing and fatal. It is refreshing to see the amount of support that countries have for Ukraine. Most importantly, it is pleasant to know that the president of our country has taken it upon himself to visit and help Ukraine.
