Harris County, Texas — A routine vehicle delivery to an auto body shop turned into a disturbing crime scene discovery Saturday morning, after employees made a chilling find inside a wrecked car that had changed hands through an auction and traveled miles before anyone realized what was inside.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that deputies were dispatched to the 13600 block of Reeveston Road in north Harris County after workers at the body shop detected a foul odor coming from a recently delivered vehicle. Upon investigation, two men were found dead inside.
According to detectives, the vehicle had arrived at the shop on Friday afternoon, transported by a tow truck. The car had previously been sold at an auction held outside of Harris County. The new owner, unaware of anything unusual, sent the wrecked and undriveable vehicle directly to the body shop for repairs — a decision that ultimately led to the grim discovery.
Sergeant Michael Ritchie told reporters that investigators believe the bodies had been decomposing for more than 24 hours before they were found Saturday morning. That timeline raises serious and troubling questions — the vehicle passed through an auction, was purchased, loaded onto a tow truck, transported across county lines and delivered to a shop, all while two men remained inside.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the two victims. The cause and manner of their deaths have also not been disclosed, leaving the circumstances surrounding this case largely unknown at this stage of the investigation.
Ritchie confirmed that investigators are actively seeking to speak with the tow truck driver who delivered the vehicle to the body shop, indicating that individual may hold critical information about the chain of events leading up to the discovery.
No arrests have been announced. The investigation remains active and ongoing as Harris County Sheriff’s Office detectives work to establish how the men died and how their bodies went undetected through multiple transactions.
