A 19-year-old New Jersey man is facing serious criminal charges after a terrifying late-night rampage in Washington Township, Gloucester County, that left multiple vehicles destroyed and an entire neighborhood shaken.
Aiden Logrande, of Turnersville, was arrested Saturday following two separate vehicle fires and multiple acts of criminal mischief that unfolded within hours of each other. He now faces two counts of arson, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and multiple counts of criminal mischief.
What Happened That Night
Washington Township Police Department officers were first dispatched to Tara Drive at approximately 9:42 p.m. Saturday after reports of a vehicle intentionally set ablaze. Home surveillance cameras told a disturbing story — a man was captured on video smashing the rear window of a parked vehicle, pouring a flammable liquid inside, and setting it on fire before fleeing the scene.
While officers were still investigating that first incident, a second vehicle fire erupted in the area of Harrogate Court and Tenby Drive, sending responders scrambling to a new location within the same neighborhood.
Suspect Located, Hatchet Recovered
Officer Tyler Kelly located a man matching the suspect’s description during an active search of surrounding areas. Officers recovered a hatchet believed to have been used to smash vehicles during the attacks.
The investigation expanded further when Detective Joseph Russo filed additional criminal mischief charges against Logrande connected to recent incidents in the nearby Bunker Hill condominium development. Authorities believe multiple broken windshield cases in the area may also be linked to the suspect, and that investigation remains ongoing.
What Comes Next
Logrande was taken into custody and jailed Sunday pending court proceedings. As of Sunday afternoon, court records did not list an attorney representing him.
Residents with surveillance footage, home security video, or any additional information related to these incidents are urged to contact Detective Russo directly at 856-589-0330, ext. 1194.
Authorities are asking the community to remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
