Houston Teen Thought He Could Get Away With It — Months Later, Police Proved Him Wrong

HOUSTON, Texas — A Houston teenager who allegedly pulled a firearm on a stranger during what was supposed to be a routine Facebook Marketplace sale has been arrested and charged with a serious felony offense, authorities confirmed.

Treveyon Wyche, 19, now faces a charge of Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon in the 176th State District Court — a case that began on an otherwise ordinary Thursday afternoon and ended with a felony traffic stop months later.

According to investigators, the incident took place on January 30, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m. at an apartment complex located in the 7500 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. The victim had arranged to meet a potential buyer through Facebook Marketplace to complete a sale. When the victim arrived at the agreed-upon location, the suspect allegedly drew a firearm and robbed the victim of the item at gunpoint.

The victim was able to flee the scene without physical injury and promptly reported the robbery to the Houston Police Department.

A robbery detective was assigned to the case and launched a follow-up investigation. Through careful investigative work, detectives identified Wyche as a possible suspect and subsequently confirmed his identity. Charges were formally filed on February 20, 2026, and an arrest warrant was issued.

The arrest came on April 29, 2026, nearly three months after the robbery. Members of the Houston Police Department’s Crime Suppression Team located Wyche and observed him entering a vehicle. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop, confirmed his identity and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to Harris County Jail and booked on the outstanding warrant.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Houston police are using this case as an opportunity to remind residents to exercise caution when using online selling platforms. Authorities strongly encourage buyers and sellers to meet only in well-lit, public locations and to take advantage of designated safe exchange zones operated by local law enforcement whenever possible.
