Sultan Service

Sultan+Service

Community service is work that people do to benefit others. At Sultana High School, seniors must do 20 hours of community service.

Hesperia Unified School District wants every student to develop volunteering skills. Kevin Cox, a counselor at SHS said, ‘’Community service is a great way to get a taste of how rewarding it can be serving others.’’

SHS wants students to choose an organization or any place to volunteer at to be something they are passionate about.

There is a community service log sheet to record the hours that SHS provides. Students may turn in their log sheets to Mr.Cox in the counseling office.

Some of the organizations students can choose are; Hesperia National Little League, Hesperia Elk Lodge 2646, City of Hesperia, San Bernardino County Library,

San Bernardino County Youth Advisory Board, Hesperia Sheriff Explorers,  County Fire Explorers, Rock’n Our Disabilities Foundation, Desert Valley Hospital, Charter Hospice, and many more.

Learning how to do nonprofit work is a skill that will help students succeed in the future. It also teaches students how to engage with others in real life.
